A portion of Bangkok’s traffic came to a standstill following a truck colliding with a height clearance bar on Si Ayutthaya Road near a flyover at Phaya Thai intersection in Ratchathevi district on Thursday morning.
According to traffic police, the incident occurred around 5.30 am when a semi-trailer truck transporting tires struck the bar meant to prevent vehicles with six wheels or more, as well as those taller than 3.10 meters, from using the flyover located beneath the tracks of the BTS electric railway.
The collision led to the blockage of two lanes on the flyover, prompting workers and police to spend hours clearing the roadway.
The accident resulted in severe congestion stretching for several kilometers from Phaya Thai intersection to Ramkhamhaeng Road.
