Update from the fire at Yaowarat

Around 40 fire trucks were dispatched to tackle a fire at the New Empire Hotel, a seven-story building. Firefighters successfully brought the blaze under control by 11:16 pm. Guests at the hotel were rescued using a fire engine bucket, ensuring their safety.

Approximately 30 individuals sustained injuries, mainly senior citizens who had inhaled smoke, with no reported fatalities. To ensure public safety, a portion of Yaowarat Road, spanning from the Chaloem Buri intersection to the Odeon roundabout, was closed as firefighters continued to extinguish remaining debris.

The incident affected about 280 people, including workers from various provinces and neighboring countries, who sought assistance. Some sought refuge at Wat Traimit following the fire.
