Update on the Seven Deadly Days of Songkran Road Accidents

On the second day of the Seven Days of Danger road safety campaign during Songkran, the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM) recorded a total of 339 road accidents, 36 fatalities, and 330 injuries.

There were 339 accidents on April 12th, resulting in 36 fatalities and 330 injuries. The majority (41%) were brought on by excessive speed. In almost 83 percent of the collisions, motorbikes were involved. Between 7:00 and 8:00 PM, local roadways saw the majority of accidents.

Bangkok had six fatalities, making it the province with the most. In Surat Thani, there were 14 accidents, the most of any city. With 14 injuries each, Nakhon Si Thammarat and Surat Thani had the most injuries. 63 people were killed and 618 injured in 618 traffic accidents over the course of two days.
