US Trade Negotiations Continue as PlannedUS Trade Negotiations Continue as Planned

Trade talks between Thailand and the US are ongoing despite Thailand operating under a caretaker government. According to Chotima Iemsawasdikul, the Department of Trade Negotiations is continuing technical negotiations, primarily on tariffs—which remain at 19%—as well as market access, non-tariff measures, and sanitary standards, including issues related to pork products.

While discussions are progressing, any formal agreement requires approval from the new government, the cabinet, and the House of Representatives.

The US tariff rate remains at 19%, despite earlier speculation about potential increases. Caretaker Minister Suphajee Suthumpun clarified that tariffs were briefly mentioned in a recent call between President Trump and Prime Minister Anutin but were not used as leverage.
