Vietjet Air receives the 6th A330-300

The sixth Airbus A330-300 for Vietjet, which will be used on international routes, has been delivered. The Vietnamese airline Vietjet just received its sixth Airbus A330-300 aircraft as part of its growth strategy. This will allow the airline to meet increasing demand during the busy summer travel season and be used on its international routes.

With the addition of its fifth A330 aircraft just a few months ago, the low-cost carrier has recently started adding widebody aircraft to its fleet. As its network grows and new routes are launched, the airline aims to add more A330 aircraft to its fleet this year. The airline further claimed that the A330 enhances its operational efficiency and enables it to deliver “positive flight experiences at reasonable fares” by enhancing fuel efficiency and performance.

The airline’s widebody A330-300 aircraft are set up with a total of 377 seats, with 12 seats in business class and 365 seats in economy. The business class seats are arranged in a two-two-two configuration.

Australia, India, Japan, Korea, Hong Kong, Taiwan (China), Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, and Kazakhstan are among the foreign destinations served by the Vietnamese airline. Two new flights, from Ho Chi Minh City to Kochi in India and from Hanoi to Hiroshima in Japan respectively, have been confirmed by the airline for the upcoming months. On July 19, the Hanoi (HAN) to Hiroshima (HIJ) route will become operational, making it the first of these lines to do so. The return flight takes off from HIJ the following morning at 09:45 and arrives in HAN slightly after noon at 12:35. The flight will take 4 hours and 30 minutes on average for each leg.The second new route will launch later on August 12 and run four times every week on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays between Ho Chi Minh City (SGN) and Kochi (COK). These services will fly out of SGN at 07:20 and touch down in COK at 10:50. The return flight is planned to depart COK at 23:15 and land in SGN at 06:40 the following morning.

Increasing operations

For the year 2023, Vietjet has lofty goals, including expanding from 78 to 87 aircraft and modernizing its fleet of Airbus A330 and A321 aircraft for greater operating efficiency. The airline has set a goal to boost its passenger volume by 25% this year.

In addition, the airline aims to improve its 40% market share of Vietnam’s domestic market this year by transporting an extra five million passengers. This month, the airline added three new Airbus A321neo aircraft to its fleet, and three more A330s will be added later in the year.

Additionally, a sizable number of narrowbody planes ordered by the airline from Airbus and Boeing have not yet been delivered. The airline has placed orders for 20 A321XLRs and 91 A321neos from Airbus. Vietjet has placed orders for 50 Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft and 100 Boeing 737 MAX 8-200 aircraft, which have a higher carrying capacity, on the Boeing side of the order book. Vietjet is undoubtedly an airline with ambition, and it will be interesting to observe how the career succeeds in the future, given the operations of the airline today and its growth strategy for the future.
