Visa exemption for Taiwanese and Indian nationals

Thailand has announced a visa exemption for tourists from India and Taiwan between November 10 and May 10. This decision aims to attract more visitors during the high season and stimulate the tourism industry. Previously, Thailand had removed visa requirements for Chinese tourists, who were a key market before the pandemic. The government is also considering making the visa exemption for Chinese tourists permanent.

India is currently the fourth largest source market for tourism in Thailand, and the government hopes to offset weak exports and stimulate economic growth through the travel sector. The Tourism Authority of Thailand had anticipated Taiwan and India as potential countries to receive visa waivers after China. However, recent incidents, such as a shooting in a Bangkok shopping mall, may deter Chinese visitors and lead to a focus on attracting Indian tourists instead.
