Thai Airways is set to phase out first class in favour of an upgraded business class, with its new Royal Silk suites expected to be unveiled at the Aircraft Interiors Expo in Hamburg.

With only three Boeing 777s still featuring first class, the airline is shifting to a standardised premium product across its long-haul fleet, including the Airbus A350 and Boeing 787.

The new cabins will feature “business plus” suites in Row 1, offering more space, longer beds and larger screens—reflecting a global trend as many airlines move away from first class and position business class as the top-tier experience.

Thai Airways’ next-generation business class could feature the Vantage XL seats from Thompson Aero Seating, known for introducing the “business plus” concept. Row 1 Royal Silk suites are expected to offer larger screens of up to 32 inches, companion seating, and increased personal space, with premium pricing above standard business class.

The rest of the cabin will feature modern suites with sliding privacy doors and 24-inch screens. Additional upgrades are likely to include Bluetooth audio, wireless charging, and USB-C power outlets, enhancing the overall inflight experience.
