With policies addressing gender equality and the rights of LGBTQ+, six political parties are competing for the support of Thailand’s gay community.

Move Forward, Pheu Thai, Democrat, Chart Thai Pattana, Thai Sang Thai, and Chart Pattana Kla are the six parties with platforms aimed at gaining support from the LGBT population.

Moving forward

In order to advance gender equality and guarantee that all genders have the rights and safeguards, Move Forward has promised to modify the law.

With its marriage equality measure, it will be permitted to marry people of the same sex and grant them the same privileges and obligations as heterosexual couples.

Additionally, the party wants to provide citizens the option of whether or not they want a gender prefix to appear on their National ID card.

Thai Pheu

Also in favor of marital equality is Pheu Thai. To boost tourism, it promises to advertise Thailand as a top destination for LGBTQ+ travelers. Additionally, it will write a manual and develop an online community to advance the rights of LGBTQ+ persons.

Democrat

The Democrats have promised to make it simpler for members of the LGBTQ+ community to host activities in public places, such as Pride festivals. Additionally, they promise to endeavor to stop all forms of sexual harassment and bullying and to guarantee the rights of both sexes.

The party will also urge media organizations to report on the neighborhood objectively.

Thai Pattana Chart

Chart Thai Pattana has pledged to make sure that LGBTQ+ persons have access to employment and government benefits to better their standard of living. The party claims that it would also fight for gender equality and the acceptance of LGBTQ+ individuals in society.

Sang Thai Thai

In order to uphold the rights of LGBTQ+ persons, lessen prejudice against them, and implement gender-inclusive education, Thai Sang Thai has vowed to submit legislation.

The party has also vowed to ensure that LGBTQ+ individuals have access to welfare and to widen the definition of “health-related leave” to include gender-affirming surgery.

Pattana Kla Chart

Chart Pattana Kla has committed to building an environment that will allow LGBTQ+ persons to make money and draw LGBTQ+ tourists from abroad to Thailand.
