Woman arrested in regards to the black pink ticket scam

A 35-year-old woman was detained by police from Thailand’s Cyber Crime Investigation Bureau in the Mueang district of Chiang Rai province on suspicion of fraud. She is charged with creating numerous “mule” accounts that were used by a gang to store proceeds from the sale of fake tickets for a recent Blackpink World Tour concert in Bangkok.

According to reports, the suspect, who was only given the name “Sasithorn,” informed the police that she spotted a Facebook advertisement guaranteeing anyone 300–500 baht per bank account in exchange for opening one. She accepted the offer since she was in need of money and was paid 900 baht, but she spent the money on illicit online gambling.

She added that she would only seldom leave the house and only after midnight if she knew the police were looking for her in order to avoid being apprehended.

Several Blackpink fans reportedly complained to police that they ordered concert tickets online, deposited money into Sasithorn’s account, and never received the tickets.

According to the authorities, a background check of police files revealed that the suspect had already served time in prison for possessing illegal drugs.
