A woman took to the Facebook group “Free Legal Consultation” to share a story that quickly sparked backlash
“We ordered chicken rice, but the rider delivered a pizza with our room number on it. Out of kindness, we didn’t call him to fix it—we just ate it because we were hungry,” she wrote.
However, half an hour later, the rider returned to retrieve the pizza. The woman then questioned whether she was at fault and if she was obligated to wait for the rider to correct the mistake.
Her post was met with strong criticism from netizens, many of whom pointed out that eating the misdelivered food knowingly could be considered embezzlement of property delivered by mistake. Some even noted that such actions could be punishable by law.
“This is completely wrong,” one commenter explained. “If you consume something that was delivered to you by mistake, with the intention of benefiting from it, it can be considered fraudulent.”
As the backlash grew, the woman deleted her post—but by then, screenshots had already gone viral on other platforms, further fueling the controversy.
