Yellow line MRT to begin passenger trails

The Yellow Line train service from Hua Mark to Samrong will begin a trial run today (Saturday), initially covering 13 of its 23 stations, according to the Mass Rapid Transit Authority of Thailand (MRTA). Her Majesty the Queen’s birthday falls on the same day as the launch.

Between 9am and 8pm, anyone can ride the new elevated train service for free. The MRTA stated that other stations would be added to the trial in the future and that the public will be informed of the service’s availability.

Hua Mark, Kalantan, Sri Nut, Srinagarindra 38, Rama 9, Sri Udom, Sri Iam, Sri Lasalle, Sri Baring, Sridan, Sri Thepa, Sri Thippawan, and Samrong are the first 13 stations to open for the trial run.

Lat Phrao to Samrong are connected by the 30.4 km Yellow Line in Samut Prakan. It was created as a secondary mass transit line to connect Samut Prakan’s inner areas and eastern Bangkok with other rail services.

There are two park-and-ride facilities at Sri Iam and Lat Phrao stations in addition to the 23 stations.
