1 MILLION SONGKRAN TOURISTS ARE READY IN SUVARNABHUMI

When the Songkran Festival takes place from April 11 to April 17, 2023, Suvarnabhumi Airport will be ready to welcome incoming travelers. The Thailand airport will have an estimated 1 million visitors, or 143,000 visitors on average per day.

On the fourth floor of the departure lounge, the airport will erect a temporary outbound checkpoint at the end of row W. In order to serve tourists as efficiently as possible, the airport will also add more workers to the checkpoints.

Moreover, the Transport Ministry said on Wednesday that free parking will be available at Suvarnabhumi International Airport’s zone C parking lot from April 12 through April 18, with shuttle bus services taking passengers and others to the ground floor of the main terminal.

According to the University of the Thai Chamber of Commerce’s Centre for Economic and Business Forecasting, total spending on Songkran will amount to THB 125.2 billion, up 17.3% from the previous year’s record THB 106.7 billion. This will contribute to a 0.5% to 0.7% increase in GDP.

According to the Tourist Administration of Thailand, there were 6,465,737 tourists in the country for the first three months of 2023 (from January to March), an increase of 1,199% over the same time the previous year. This resulted in THB 256.2 billion in tourist spending.

East Asia accounted for 56.8% of all international travelers, with 26.5 percent coming from Europe. India, the United States, Australia, Israel, Canada, and Saudi Arabia each contributed 16.7% more.
