Coming soon: Bangkok’s mass transit system expanding in Bangkok and surroundings

Within a few years, commuters will be able to use more public transit networks to go around Bangkok and the other provinces, according to the government.

Commuters will soon be able to enjoy the services provided by the Yellow Line system, which is said to be over 90% complete, according to government spokeswoman Anucha Burapachaisri.

The Line runs between the Samut Prakan province’s Samrong area and Bangkok’s Lat Phrao neighborhood. He said that the first monorail mass-transit system in the nation, which is slated to start operating by the end of this year, is currently undergoing system tests by the Thailand Mass Rapid Transit Authority (MRTA) to assure its safety.

A representative of the government gave information on the Pink Line, a different monorail mass-transit system scheduled to start operating in 2024.

The Pink Line, which connects Bangkok’s Minburi district to Nonthaburi’s Khae Rai neighborhood, will begin conducting test runs in January 2023 and begin offering full commercial services in June of that same year.

Meanwhile, according to officials, 99% of the Orange Line’s eastern segment’s work has been finished. The Section, which will link Thailand Cultural Center station with Bangkok’s Minburi neighborhood, is anticipated to open in August 2025.

The MRTA also stated that construction is presently taking place on the southern leg of the Purple Line, which would link Bangkok’s Rat Burana neighborhood to the current Tao Poon station.

According to the government spokeswoman, the MRTA is now repairing road surfaces that have been harmed by these constructions, and part of these repairs will be completed by the end of this year, reducing traffic congestion in several areas.
