The new owners of the retired aircraft are planning to convert a Condor Boeing 767-300ER with a throwback livery into a freighter.
According to data from planespotters.net, Condor had been flying the aircraft since August 2012 under the prior registration of D-ABUM. The aircraft is currently registered as N336CM and is owned by Cargo Aircraft Management, according to FAA records. The document was released on June 23, 2023.
The plane will be transported to Guangzhou, China, where it will be turned into a freighter, according to a tweet from Steve Giordano, one of the managing partners of ferry flight services provider, Nomadic Aviation Group. The 767-300ER is currently in storage at Phoenix Goodyear Airport (GYR), Arizona, US. According to planespotters.net, it has been there since January 2023; Condor retired the aircraft from active service in October 2022.
While Condor’s striped liveries have gained the airline notoriety, or notoriety, the 767-300ER is not the first aircraft to pay respect to the carrier’s past. A Boeing 757-300, registered as D-ABON, is painted in a paint scheme honoring the airline’s 50th anniversary and has been painted that way since March 2006, according to planespotters.net. An Airbus A320, registered as D-AICH, also boasts a throwback livery.
