Deputy Secretary-General of the Food and Drug Administration and pharmacist Lertchai Lertwut disclosed that the Department of Livestock Development’s Quarantine and Inspection K9 team had captured illicit Chinese pork sausages.
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) wants to make it clear that illegally obtained pork sausages are a type of food item that lacks a legal label and a request for a food serial number.
If merchandise is brought into the country without authorization for the purpose of sale, the importer faces a maximum sentence of three years in prison, a maximum fine of 30,000 baht, or both. If inaccurate labeling is discovered, a fine of no more than 30,000 baht will be imposed, with samples being collected for analysis by the FDA. Additional legal action will be taken.
