SAMUT PRAKAN – The third and last full-scale trial operation of the new satellite terminal at Suvarnabhumi airport was successfully completed on Thursday night, one day before the soft opening that is planned to take place on September 28.

The director of Suvarnabhumi Airport, Kittipong Kittikachorn, stated on Friday that the third full-scale trial operation concentrated on the outbound passenger procedure during the night and ran from 8:00 pm to midnight. The experiment lasted for the entire duration of the night. The purpose of this was to make certain that the night-time operations, which call for a different set of support systems than the day-time operations, including illumination at each and every service location, were operating without any hitches.

He stated that the airport received full support from Thai Vietjet, which provided its aircraft, crew, ground service equipment, and staff for the trial operation. Additionally, he mentioned that the immigration police, customs officials, the Aeronautical Radio of Thailand, and the Bangkok Aviation Fuel Services Plc all provided assistance.
The SAT-1 facility has a total floor size of 216,000 square meters and can accommodate a total of 28 aircraft parking bays. In order to facilitate the airport’s future development plans and to facilitate the streamlining of the boarding procedure, it is fitted with cutting-edge technology.

The new terminal at Suvarnabhumi Airport is not expected to open to the public until the early years of 2027.

The airport has already finished all three full-scale trial operations, and it will seek suggestions from all parties involved to improve its operations. The official noted that this will ensure preparation for the soft opening of the SAT-1 terminal on September 28th.
