According to the International Air Transport Association (IATA), Thailand’s international flights have recovered to 71% of pre-Covid levels in 2019. IATA predicts that Thailand is on track to become the ninth largest aviation hub in the next decade.

Nine new Thai airlines have received operating licenses and are preparing to launch services soon. The Transport Ministry plans to enhance airport and air transport capacity to meet the increasing demand driven by tourism stimulus policies.

The plan consists of three phases, focusing on trade facilitation, tourism development, and improving travel connectivity at airports. This includes increasing flight schedules, enhancing existing airports, and constructing new terminals in Chiang Mai and Phuket. The completion of these projects is expected to handle an additional 50 million passengers annually.
