Bridge Collapses at Bangkok Luxury Condo After Myanmar Earthquake
A bridge at a luxury condominium under construction in Bangkok’s Thonglor neighborhood collapsed on Friday following tremors from the powerful earthquake in Myanmar.
Panic as Tremors Hit Construction Site
The earthquake, which struck around 3 p.m., caused hundreds of workers to flee the site of the two high-rise buildings, each at least 30 stories tall. A construction worker reported feeling the tremor while inside the building, prompting him to run for safety.
Bridge Collapse and Reported Injuries
The situation worsened when a bridge connecting the two buildings collapsed due to the tremors. Initial reports indicated injuries, but the exact number of casualties has yet to be confirmed.
Call for Stricter Safety Measures
Workers who experienced the quake described it as the strongest they had ever felt. They urged the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration to enforce stricter earthquake safety regulations at construction sites to prevent similar incidents in the future.
Authorities are currently assessing the damage and ensuring safety compliance in the wake of the earthquake.
