Chinese Couple Arrested for Filming Inappropriate Content on Pattaya Sidewalk

Pattaya, April 10, 2025 — Pattaya’s Tourist Police Division 2 has arrested a Chinese couple for filming nude content in public on Pattaya South Road, in violation of Thai laws. The incident occurred as part of an ongoing crackdown aimed at preserving the city’s image ahead of the Songkran holiday.

The couple reportedly admitted to being photographers who travel the world taking nude photos for their private collection, unaware their actions were illegal in Thailand. They expressed remorse and apologized for their behavior, which authorities say could damage Pattaya’s tourism reputation.

Pol. Col. Songwut Cheuphlakij, Commander of Tourist Police Division 2, reiterated that all tourists must respect local laws and cultural norms, especially during major festivals. He encouraged visitors to report suspicious behavior via the official tourism safety app or to officers stationed around high-traffic tourist zones.

The arrests come amid heightened security and vigilance as Pattaya prepares for Songkran, with officials aiming to ensure a safe and respectful environment for all.
