Xi Jinping Responds to U.S. Trade War: “China Is Not Afraid”

Chinese President Xi Jinping delivered a firm message on Friday regarding the escalating trade tensions with the United States, declaring that China is “not afraid” amid mounting global economic uncertainty.

Speaking during a meeting with Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez in Beijing, Xi made his first public remarks on the trade dispute, which has rattled international markets and raised fears of a global recession.

“There are no winners in a trade war, and going against the world will only lead to self-isolation,” Xi said, according to state broadcaster CCTV.

He emphasized China’s resilience, stating, “For over 70 years, China’s development has relied on self-reliance and hard work — never on handouts from others, and it is not afraid of any unjust suppression.”

“Regardless of how the external environment changes, China will remain confident, stay focused, and concentrate on managing its own affairs well,” he added.

The comments come amid rising tensions and tit-for-tat tariffs between the world’s two largest economies, as analysts warn of deeper disruptions to global trade and supply chains.
