  • The tourists, Maria Abaca and Linda Raterro, were reported missing by the Italian Embassy in Bangkok, triggering an immediate search operation.
  • Despite heavy rain delaying rescue efforts, the women were able to send their location to responders.
  • After a three-hour search, involving tourist police, rangers, and volunteers, both women were found safe and unharmed.

The rescue comes as Koh Phangan braces for an influx of tourists, with Songkran and the Full Moon Party colliding this weekend:

  • Ferry companies are running at full capacity with hourly departures from Don Sak to Koh Phangan and Koh Samui.
