Woman Vanishes After Allegedly Scamming 50 People in B3.6 Million Airfare Fraud
SURAT THANI — A 32-year-old woman accused of orchestrating a 3.6 million baht air ticket scam has disappeared after allegedly defrauding dozens of victims with fake discounted airline deals.
According to Pol Maj Gen Sermpan Sirikong, Surat Thani’s provincial police chief, at least 20 victims have already filed complaints at Bo Phut police station since April 21, claiming Kaewta Chookhao sold them air tickets advertised at a 50% discount.
Some tickets were reportedly valid, but many victims found their bookings rejected by airlines, and attempts to contact Kaewta afterward failed. The victims believe about 50 people in total were tricked into paying over 3.6 million baht for travel that never materialized.
Police confirmed that Kaewta’s last known address was on Koh Samui. After ignoring two police summonses, investigators are now seeking a court-issued arrest warrant.
Authorities are urging additional victims to come forward to strengthen the case and speed up the legal process.
