Bangkok Woman Arrested for Selling Meth to Support Bedridden Father

BANGKOK — A 43-year-old woman has been arrested in Bangkok’s Min Buri district for allegedly selling methamphetamine to cover the medical costs of her bedridden father.

The suspect, known only as Yui, was apprehended on May 7 during a police raid at her residence in Soi Ram Inthra 86, following a tip-off from an informant. Officers seized 121 meth pills packed in five bags, along with other evidence linking her to drug distribution in the area.

The raid was led by Police Colonel Siam Boonsom and his team as part of a broader government crackdown on narcotics. Upon arrival, officers spotted Yui outside the home. When presented with a search warrant, she fled upstairs clutching an orange bag, which was later found to contain the methamphetamine.

Yui admitted to owning the drugs and claimed she began dealing to fund care for her ailing father. She told police she had been buying 100 pills for 1,000 baht (US$30) from a supplier named Manop over the past four months. Transactions were carried out in cash and via bank transfers, with 61 transactions confirmed between April 3 and May 6.

She allegedly sold the pills locally for 50 baht (US$1.50) each, arranging deliveries with Manop via the LINE messaging app, typically meeting near a canal in her neighborhood.

Yui also confessed to using meth herself, with her most recent use reportedly occurring the night before her arrest. A subsequent drug test confirmed the presence of methamphetamine in her system.

She now faces charges for possession and distribution of methamphetamine, as well as personal drug use. Yui was transferred to Min Buri Police Station for further legal proceedings.
