Croatian Man Arrested in Chiang Mai for Operating Illegal Tour Business
Chiang Mai, Thailand – A Croatian national has been arrested in Chiang Mai for allegedly running an unlicensed tour operation catering to foreign tourists, authorities confirmed.
Tourist Police Division 2 officers apprehended the man, identified only as Mr. Andre, at a luxury condominium in the city centre. The arrest is part of an ongoing crackdown on illegal tour operators and unlicensed guides in the region.
According to officials, Mr. Andre had been selling tour packages without proper authorization, targeting international visitors in the popular Chang Khlan tourist area. He now faces two charges: operating a tour business without a license and working in Thailand without a valid work permit.
Both offences carry stiff penalties, with the unlicensed business operation alone punishable by a fine of up to 500,000 baht.
Authorities have transferred the suspect to local investigators for further legal action.
