Another major stage for the hospitality industry is approaching, as hotels await the MICHELIN Guide’s upcoming awards. Last year, Michelin began announcing the ‘MICHELIN Key’—awarding 1 to 3 Keys as a symbol of hotels offering the most remarkable stays. This year, the initiative continues with even greater scale, as the results will be announced simultaneously worldwide on October 8, 2025, in Paris, France.
Michelin inspectors stay at hotels anonymously and evaluate them based on five key criteria:
- The hotel is a destination in itself
- Excellence in architecture and interior design
- Quality and consistency of service, comfort, and upkeep
- Price appropriate to the quality and experience offered
- A distinct personality that reflects the property’s unique character
The meaning of each MICHELIN Key is as follows:
- Three Keys: An exceptional and memorable stay
- Two Keys: An excellent hotel experience
- One Key: A very special stay
New awards introduced this year include:
- MICHELIN Architecture & Design Award – Honoring hotels with outstanding architecture and design
- MICHELIN Wellness Award – Given to hotels offering modern and holistic wellness programs
- MICHELIN Local Gateway Award – Recognizing hotels that deeply connect guests to the local environment
- MICHELIN Opening of the Year – For new hotels that make a significant impact on the hospitality industry in their first year of operation
For Thailand’s first MICHELIN Key list in 2024, it included:
- 8 Three Key hotels
- 19 Two Key hotels
- 31 One Key hotels
— making a total of 58 hotels, out of over 100 featured in the guide, ranging from charming boutique stays to luxurious experiences in former noble residences.
As for this year’s recipients and how many Keys each will receive—the world will find out on October 8.
