Finnair announced its first scheduled passenger service to Australia, launching daily flights between Helsinki and Melbourne via Bangkok starting in late October 2026. Operated by Airbus A350 aircraft, this route positions Melbourne as Finnair’s first Australian gateway and marks a significant expansion into the continent.
The new service will connect Helsinki, Bangkok, and Melbourne daily, offering Business, Premium Economy, and Economy cabins, along with the airline’s signature Business Class “AirLounge.” The flight schedule indicates departures from Melbourne around 3:40 pm, arriving in Helsinki early the next morning, designed for seamless connections to Europe. Return flights depart Helsinki shortly after midnight, arriving in Melbourne around 7:15 am.
This route aims to serve both Europe-to-Australia travelers and Australians heading to Northern Europe, creating a link between the hemispheres. The timetable may still be subject to adjustments as final arrangements are confirmed.
