A rare golden venomous cobra was found in a Thai village.

Locals in a community in Thailand’s Nakhon Nayok province recently became interested in a rare golden spitting cobra. The snake, which was about 1.2 meters long, attracted a lot of attention from the villagers, who flocked to see the fascinating animal.

When Facebook user Piyapan Bua-Phae shared images of the golden cobra, the tale of its discovery began. The lizard was discovered in the village crossing a road by Trongphon Imjit, the assistant village headman. The 49-year-old was originally unsure of the snake’s species, but after giving it a closer look, she noticed that its scales suggested it might be a cobra. Trongphon requested assistance from his younger brother and three other friends to catch the snake and transport it back to his house in a bag because he was intrigued by its distinctive and beautiful golden color.

People went to Trongphon’s house to see the snake in person after hearing about its capture since they had never seen a snake with such a stunning color before. One of the captives displayed the snake to onlookers while recording video and taking pictures that were later uploaded to Facebook. When the snake exhibited its distinctive hood after being placed in a container for the locals to examine, it was quickly determined that the snake was in fact a spitting cobra. The “Sumatran Spitting Cobra,” a highly poisonous and potentially dangerous species, is what is known as the golden snake.

These cobras lack any patterning on their bodies and are normally a brilliant golden-yellow color, though some may be black. These snakes lack a distinguishing marking on their hood, unlike other cobras. Southern Thailand, Malaysia, and Indonesia are the main locations where you can find Sumatran Spitting Cobras. The locals opted to safely cage the cobra and then release it back into nature after learning of the deadly snake’s possible threat to the community.
