Additional bus routes under consideration for Red Line station

Next month, the Department of Land Transport (DLT) plans to propose the addition of four new electric bus routes to enhance connectivity to the State Railway of Thailand’s (SRT) Red Line Rangsit Station in Pathum Thani province.

As per Transport Ministry spokesperson Krichanont Iyapunya, this initiative follows a ministry survey that highlighted deficiencies in the current feeder system, especially concerning public transportation and parking facilities at Rangsit Station. The new bus routes will be operated by private companies and will serve areas including Rangsit Circle, Rangsit-Thammasat University, Rangsit Campus, Rangsit-Krung Siam St Carlos Medical Centre, and Rangsit Khlong 7.

DLT is set to present the proposal to the Pathum Thani Land Transport Office for review before final submission to the ministry. Additionally, SRT is focusing on expanding Rangsit Station’s parking capacity from 100 to 300 vehicles and is considering the construction of a dedicated parking structure.

Currently, the station’s feeder system heavily relies on pick-up taxis servicing routes like Rangsit-Charusorn, Rangsit-Nong Sua District, Rangsit-Chiang Rak Station, and Rangsit-Ongkharak District. The rise in train ridership can be attributed to the ministry’s introduction of a flat-rate fare of 20 baht, covering access to 14 SRT Red Line stations and 16 MRT Purple Line stations.
