Approximately 5,600 individuals are reporting losses totaling B1.6 billion from the iCon Group’s direct sales business.

Approximately 5,600 individuals are reporting losses totaling B1.6 billion from the iCon Group’s direct sales business.

A total of 5,648 individuals have filed complaints claiming losses of 1.61 billion baht related to their involvement in the direct sales business of The iCon Group, while police prepare to press money-laundering charges against the suspects.

The Central Investigation Bureau reported these figures regarding the complainants and the alleged losses on Sunday evening.

Sources indicated that individuals filed their complaints with police across the country between October 10 and 20. Conclusively, 2,822 complainants reported losses of approximately 965 million baht due to their dealerships involving The iCon Group’s dietary supplement products.

Additionally, many more individuals in Thailand and other countries are gathering evidence to support their forthcoming complaints, according to sources.

The Central Investigation Bureau intends to bring further charges against The iCon Group suspects, including money-laundering, fraudulent borrowing, and illegal assembly. CIB officers plan to inform 18 suspects from The iCon Group about these additional charges in their places of detention.

The police expect to conclude the investigation into these additional charges this week and are also prepared to arrest more suspects, including major dealers with networks of smaller dealers.

Previously, suspects were charged with public fraud and computer crimes for entering false information into computer systems. Several individuals who paid for dealership subscriptions with The iCon Group have reported difficulties in selling products, contrary to what was communicated in their training sessions.

In a related development, the Consumer Protection Police Division has confiscated four additional vehicles from The iCon Group, including two Lexuses, an MG, and a Toyota van.

Among the complainants who visited the Central Investigation Bureau in Bangkok on Sunday was a 70-year-old man from Macau, who reported a loss of 250,000 baht from the direct sales business of The iCon Group.

His representative, Itthidet Thanetwattana, explained that the complainant had accepted an investment offer from a Thai individual residing in Hong Kong, who is also affected by the situation.

The Macau man attended a training session in Thailand late last year, where he met The iCon Group’s CEO, Warathaphon “Boss Paul” Waratyaworrakul, and several Thai celebrities he recognized from television.

According to Itthidet, the Macau man has not received all the products he ordered from the company, as his dealer claimed there were supply shortages.

Shocked by news reports regarding the direct sales group in Thailand, the Macau man decided to file his complaint in Bangkok, as stated by his representative.
