At the MBK Center a Covid-19 vaccination station has been established to offer booster shots

On Friday, MBK Centre retail mall’s Zone D’s temporary vaccination facility was formally opened by deputy governor Tavida Kamolvej.

According to Tavida, Klang Hospital and the Medical Service Department worked together to establish the unit. The Moderna bivalent vaccine is available for free walk-in shots daily between 9 am and 3 pm. Candidates must be at least 12 years old, have received a Covid-19 infection vaccine, or have recovered from it more than three months ago. They must also present vaccination documentation.

The deputy governor further noted that after Songkran, the city’s daily Covid-19 patients increased from about 100 to over 1,000.

“This is because people lowered their guard during celebrations by not wearing face masks in public places,” the woman claimed. However, given that it is comparable to the number of influenza infections during the summer, this figure is not concerning.

The majority of the new patients, she continued, had minor or no symptoms and could receive treatment in an outpatient setting. However, the increase in hospital admissions has only been about 10 per day.

Separately, she added, there are worries that once schools reopen for the second semester on May 16, a fresh wave of infections could start. So that a larger number of people may receive booster shots, Bangkok governor Chadchart Sittipunt has commanded that vaccination units be set up in handy places like shopping centers.

These facilities will provide foreign tourists with access to vaccines in addition to reducing congestion in local public health offices and hospitals.
