Azerbaijan Airlines has placed a 12-aircraft deal with Airbus.

The national airline, Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL), has acknowledged making an order with Airbus for 12 A320neo airplanes.

On April 6, 2023, in Baku, executives signed the contract between the two aircraft companies.

The A320neo and A321neo aircraft that AZAL has ordered will join the 14 Airbus aircraft that are currently in the fleet.

Since the beginning of the year, three new-generation A320NEO aircraft, four A319CEOs, six A320CEOs, two A340s, and six A320CEOs have been added to this list.

According to AZAL, who confirmed this, the airline would choose the engines.

First vice-president of AZAL CJSC Samir Rzayev stated, “We are glad to continue our mutually beneficial cooperation with Airbus on our fleet modernization program and aim to extend our bilateral partnership. We will be able to provide our passengers with the most modern and comfortable narrow-body aircraft thanks to the arrangement.

AZAL anticipates that by operating more modern, cost-effective aircraft, the new aircraft will aid the airline in being more effective and competitive.

The airline plans to use the efficient A320neo family aircraft to grow its domestic and international route network.

Christian Scherer, Airbus’ chief commercial officer and director of the company’s international division, believes that this order represents a critical turning point in the two firms’ long-standing collaboration.

Hong Kong-based low-cost carrier HK Express did so on March 29, 2023, announcing the arrival of its first Airbus A321neo aircraft.

The first of 16 A321neo aircraft to be delivered to HK Express, a member of the Cathay Pacific Group, is represented by this aircraft. The remaining aircraft will be delivered during the following two years.

The A320neo aircraft series is the most popular in the world, with more than 8,700 orders from 135 customers.
