British BASE jumper dies in Pattaya after parachute fails to open

A British base jumper tragically lost his life when his parachute failed to open after leaping from the 29th floor of a Pattaya condominium. The incident, which occurred yesterday at 7:30 p.m., was captured on video by a friend who was waiting on the ground floor. The body of the base jumper, identified as Mr. Nathy Odinson, 33, was discovered near the exit of Building B of the condominium complex. His blue parachute was found beside him.

“BASE” is an acronym referring to four types of fixed objects that base jumpers can leap from: buildings, antennae (radio masts), spans (bridges), and earth (cliffs).

According to a security guard named Mr. Kanet Chansong, he initially thought the sound was a falling branch, but upon investigation, he discovered the deceased British man. The guard explained that the base jumper had entered the condo complex undetected, parked his vehicle outside, and made his way to the top floor to carry out his jump. This was not the first time he had jumped from this particular building, said the guard.

The police confirmed that there were no signs of foul play, and the video captured by the deceased’s friend showed him jumping from the 29th floor, with his parachute failing to open before he hit the ground.
