Cambodia Extradites 130 Chinese Citizens in Crackdown on Fraud

A total of 130 Chinese citizens suspected of involvement in gambling and fraud-related crimes were extradited from Cambodia by the respective public security authorities of both countries. They were returned to China on Saturday morning, as reported by China’s Ministry of Public Security.

These individuals arrived at Tianhe International Airport in Wuhan, Hubei province, on two chartered flights operated by Chinese civil aviation. This marks the initial group of suspects jointly targeted for extradition by the law enforcement agencies of both countries as part of this year’s crackdown on gambling and fraud-related crimes. Authorities have indicated that more suspects will be extradited to China in subsequent batches.

In recent years, Chinese and Cambodian law enforcement authorities have closely cooperated to combat transnational gambling, telecom fraud, and other crimes, achieving notable results.

China’s public security authorities, in collaboration with the Cambodian police, recently conducted a joint operation to tackle gambling and fraud-related crimes.

During this operation, Cambodian police dismantled several gambling and fraud establishments in Preah Sihanouk, apprehending numerous Chinese nationals suspected of criminal activities. They also seized a variety of equipment including servers, computers, and mobile phones.

Under the supervision of the Ministry of Public Security, public security authorities in Hubei province dispatched a working group to Cambodia to facilitate the extradition process in collaboration with the Cambodian police. Beginning Saturday, the aforementioned individuals will be extradited back to China in batches via chartered civil aviation flights, as announced by the ministry.
