Canal door collaspe injuring 3 workers in Nakhon Pathom

Bridge collapse nakhon pathom bangkok one march 19 2024

At 10:40 a.m. on March 19, Police Major Sergeant Sutthida Saengchai, an investigating officer from Phutthamonthon Police Station in Nakhon Pathom Province, was alerted to an accident at the construction site of a substantial canal door in Ban Khlong Yoong Village 6, Tambon Khlong Yoong, Amphoe Phutthamonthon, Nakhon Pathom Province.

The incident occurred while concrete was being poured for a door structure intended to facilitate water drainage at Nara Phiramy Canal, resulting in injuries to three construction workers as the structure collapsed. The injured workers were promptly transferred to Phutthamonthon Hospital and the Kanjanaphisek Medical Center in Nakhon Pathom for treatment. Following this, Police Major General Sritthikajon Janthaduang, Superintendent of Phutthamonthon Police Station, initiated an investigation at the site.

The accident transpired during the construction of the door structure, and by the time authorities arrived, the injured workers had already been taken to the hospital. Out of the 11 concrete workers present, three sustained injuries during the event. It was reported that a second concrete truck collapsed while pouring concrete, leading to the injuries. The injured workers, namely Mr. Sritai Thepchantaa (54 years old), Mr. Arthapol Somnuk (56 years old), and Mr. Narong Sutthakan (54 years old), were submerged in liquid concrete at the location of the incident.

Initial assessments suggest that the collapse occurred during the concrete pouring process, indicating that the area where concrete loads were being received might not have been structurally equipped to bear the weight, resulting in the collapse that injured the workers underneath.

Fortunately, there were no fatalities resulting from the incident. Moving forward, an engineering evaluation will be carried out to ascertain the root cause of the accident, including any potential negligence that contributed to the incident. If misconduct is identified to have led to the injuries, appropriate accusations will be made to prevent similar incidents in the future.
