Don Mueang Airport’s capacity will increase to 40 million passengers annually.

Six international airports in Thailand are managed and run by the majority-state-owned firm Airports of Thailand Plc.

Airports of Thailand Plc (AOT) has announced plans to extend the low-cost terminal at Don Mueang International Airport after receiving cabinet clearance last year. The expansion is intended to improve passenger capacity and increase Thailand’s revenue from tourism. The project, which is expected to begin this year and be finished by 2029, has a budget of 36.8 billion baht, according to AOT. The extension will expand the airport’s handling capacity from 30 million to 40 million people annually and will involve the construction of 12 airplane parking stands and 11 jet bridges.

There will be six phases to the enlargement project.

In the first phase, a new concourse and third passenger terminal building will be built in a location south of the airport, and a seven-story parking garage will be renovated as well.

The building of VVIP lounges and offices, as well as the expansion of the northern concourse and refurbishment of aircraft parking spaces, will all be part of the second phase, which will concentrate on the airport’s northern side. Construction of a flight operating area, renovation of passenger terminal building 1, and environmental work are additional project components.
