PCB Sector Leads as 880 High-Tech Projects Pour Into Thailand

Thailand has captured more than $26.8 billion, or roughly 900 billion baht, in investment applications for its semiconductor and advanced electronics sectors over the past three years, according to the Thailand Board of Investment. The figure spans 880 high-tech projects submitted between 2023 and mid-2026, as global chip and electronics supply chains continue to diversify away from traditional manufacturing hubs.

The printed circuit board sector has emerged as the standout performer, accounting for $9.85 billion, or about 331 billion baht, across 224 projects. More than half of the world's top PCB manufacturers have now selected Thailand as a production base, with many actively expanding operations and integrating local suppliers into their global technology supply chains.

AI Demand and EV Growth Projected to Push Market to $52 Billion

Investment officials said the surge is being driven by accelerating global demand for artificial intelligence hardware, next-generation semiconductors, electric vehicles and high-performance computing infrastructure. Thailand's advanced electronics market is projected to be worth between $48 billion and $52 billion by the end of 2026, reflecting the scale of the sector's expansion. Officials forecast that the semiconductor and advanced packaging segments will grow 15 to 20 per cent a year, while demand linked to AI servers and data centre infrastructure is expected to rise by as much as 22 per cent annually. The figures add to a string of recent announcements underscoring Thailand's push to become a bigger player in the region's technology supply chain, following earlier reports that the country had secured more than $43.6 billion in first-half 2026 investment as major technology firms accelerate their Southeast Asia AI infrastructure plans.
