TransNusa Launches Twice-Daily Jakarta-Bangkok Service
The Tourism Authority of Thailand welcomed TransNusa Airlines flight 8B381 from Jakarta on its inaugural arrival at Suvarnabhumi Airport, launching a new twice-daily direct service between the two capitals. The flight landed at full capacity with 174 Indonesian passengers, and the arriving delegation, including Indonesian Ambassador Hari Prabowo, received a traditional Thai welcome from TAT and airport officials.
Operated with a 174-seat Airbus A320-200, the route offers 14 flights a week, adding roughly 2,500 inbound seats weekly and more than 130,000 annually. TAT Governor Thapanee Kiatphaibool said the service supports the government's Ease of Travelling policy and TAT's Airline Focus strategy, and is expected to draw more independent travellers, Muslim families and millennials from Indonesia under the agency's "Healing is the New Luxury" campaign.
Bali-Phuket Route Planned as Indonesian Arrivals Keep Climbing
The launch builds on separate memorandums of understanding TAT signed with TransNusa Airlines and Traveloka on August 4, covering destination marketing, travel product development and stronger air links between the two countries. Under the TransNusa agreement, a direct Bali-Phuket service is planned for later this year, a route expected to open the Andaman coast to Indonesian and Australian travellers without needing to connect through Bangkok.
From January 1 to August 2, the Kingdom welcomed 378,881 Indonesian visitors who stayed an average of six days, with 85% travelling independently and 53% returning for repeat visits. Bangkok, Songkhla, Chon Buri, Phuket and Krabi were the leading destinations, with Thai dining, historical attractions, community-based tourism, spa treatments and beach experiences among the most popular activities.
