Emirates outlines the 777X First class

Emirates is set to introduce an impressively large first-class suite offering on its upcoming Boeing 777X aircraft, featuring a total of fourteen luxurious suites. This number aligns with the quantity of first-class suites available on the airline’s A380 superjumbos and nearly doubles the current first-class capacity on the Emirates 777-300ER fleet.

This bold move reflects Emirates’ confidence in the enduring appeal of first-class travel, especially as business class cabins continue to elevate the passenger experience with amenities like sliding privacy doors, enhanced entertainment systems, and increased personal space.

Emirates’ Chief Commercial Officer, Adnan Kazim, announced during the recent IATA conference in Dubai that all Boeing 777-8s and 777-9s set for delivery until 2038 will be equipped with the new first-class offering, featuring a total of 14 suites onboard each aircraft.

The airline’s President, Sir Tim Clark, hinted that the 777X jets will feature an updated version of the highly acclaimed ‘game-changer’ first-class suite found on the Boeing 777-300ER. Known for its luxurious design inspired by the Mercedes-Benz S Class, this suite offers passengers a private retreat with floor-to-ceiling walls, adjustable ambient lighting, and a zero-gravity seat for optimal comfort.

The configuration of the first-class cabin on the 777X is anticipated to follow a 1-1-1 layout, accommodating four full rows and a fifth row with two window suites without a middle suite. In the absence of a window, these suites will display live HD footage from outside the aircraft on HD video panels.

While details about the business class cabin on the 777X remain undisclosed, Emirates has confirmed the development of an innovative “next-generation” business class seat featuring a 1-2-1 layout. This new seat design will provide direct aisle access to every business class passenger, a significant enhancement from the previous middle seat configuration.

As Boeing’s major customer for the 777X program, Emirates has placed orders for over 200 aircraft, comprising the 777-9 and 777-8 variants. Despite facing delays in the delivery schedule, Emirates remains committed to updating its fleet with the latest aircraft models while continuing to operate its flagship A380 aircraft into the 2040s.

Emirates’ President, Tim Clark, anticipates receiving the first 777-9 aircraft in mid-2026, marking a significant milestone in the airline’s fleet modernization plans.
