A 960-Kilowatt Milestone in Thon Buri
On July 8, the BMA co-hosted a press conference and opening ceremony at Zeekr House Charoen Nakhon in Thon Buri district for a new ZEEKR Power TPM 960 Ultra Fast Charging station at the Bukkhalo intersection, operated by TPM Automotive Group. With a 960-kilowatt capacity, the company says it is now the most powerful EV charging station in Thailand. Lertlak Leelarueangsang, Permanent Secretary of the Deputy Bangkok Governor's Office, co-chaired the ceremony and delivered a keynote titled "Sustainable Mobility for Carbon-Free Future," with executives from the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand and Zeekr Thailand also attending. "The BMA is ready to work with government agencies, the private sector and the public to develop cleaner transport systems, improve energy efficiency, embrace future technologies and enhance people's quality of life while advancing toward Bangkok's Net Zero goal by 2050," Lertlak said.
Transport Is Key to Bangkok's 2030 Climate Target
The new charger supports the BMA's Climate Change Master Plan, which targets a 49 percent cut in greenhouse gas emissions by 2030, equivalent to around 10.15 million tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent, with the transport sector responsible for up to 39 percent of that goal. The plan spans four focus areas: energy, transportation, waste and wastewater management, and green urban development. Related initiatives include the BMA Feeder electric bus network linking neighbourhoods to mass transit, electric passenger boats on Khlong Saen Saep, and a gradual switch to EVs across the city's own government vehicle fleet. TPM Automotive Group, which operates the new station alongside its Zeekr showrooms on Charoen Nakhon and Kanchanaphisek roads, has said it plans to open three more branches by the end of 2026 as demand for EV infrastructure grows.
