EVA Air purchases five Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners.

It’s official: EVA Air completes the purchase of five Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners.

The airline has a growing backlog of Boeing 787 orders.

Five Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners will be added to EVA Air’s fleet, the company announced Wednesday. With the widebody aircraft, the Taiwanese airline hopes to increase the productivity of its fleet.

following orders

Those who have been following Simple Flying won’t be very surprised by this information. This month, it was mentioned that EVA Air was getting ready to transfer five new Dreamliners. The airline has finally stated with pride that it has placed another order with Boeing.

The 787 operations are nothing new to the operator. Ten units total—four 787-9s and six 787-10s—are housed there at the moment. 26 business class seats and 278 economy seats are available on the -9s. 308 economy seats and 34 business seats are occupied on the -10s, meanwhile.

However, the airline already has orders for seven -10s and nine -9s that haven’t been fulfilled. The new arrivals will assist the airline in meeting an uptick in demand this decade as the company’s recovery cycle is already well under way as a result of its key markets finally removing pandemic restrictions at the turn of the year.

The president of EVA Air stated the following in a statement regarding the Dreamliner:

“We will continue to take use of this aircraft’s unmatched efficiency and performance for many years to come. Our 787 fleet has become the cornerstone of our carbon-neutral growth strategy. With the help of this new order, we can continue to operate a more environmentally friendly fleet and offer top-notch service to our customers while lowering our carbon footprint.

Stan Deal, president and CEO of Boeing Commercial Airlines, expressed his delight over the decision.

Repeat orders for the 787 family of aircraft serve as proof of the value these aircraft offer to EVA Air’s network, and the airline has one of the most effective and environmentally friendly widebody fleets in the world. With more Dreamliners, EVA Air is well-positioned for expansion, particularly when passenger traffic in Asia returns to pre-pandemic levels.

foreseeable future

In the widebody fleet, the 787 is supported by eight 777-200Fs, 34 777-300ERs, and one more 777 freighter that is currently on order.

However, the 787 is crucial in the effort to modernize passenger operations. According to Cirium data, the type flew primarily to destinations like Bangkok, Hong Kong, Seoul, and Tokyo earlier this month. It was also frequently seen on services to Milan, Munich, Vienna, and Seattle – highlighting the plane’s versatility on continental and transoceanic routes.

But, the carrier will be trying to take use of the new ships’ broader advantages, including as their efficiency, which is up to 25% more than that of earlier generations thanks to their 80% composite construction and modern GEnx engines.
