For next 2 days bus services expanded to accommodate 100,000 passengers.

The state-run Transport Company has increased bus and passenger van journeys to approximately 4,500 by deploying an additional 700 vehicles to accommodate up to 100,000 people scheduled to use public transportation today and tomorrow for travel before Songkran Day on Thursday.

Sanlak Panwattanalikit, managing director of the Transport Company, stated today that the number of passengers utilizing the company’s five bus terminals in Bangkok is likely to grow to an average of 60,000 each day today and tomorrow as people return home to celebrate Songkran.

Yesterday, he said, 3,440 bus and passenger van trips were provided to 40,819 passengers on outbound voyages from Bangkok while 3,369 in-bound excursions were provided to 35,718 passengers, adding that there were sufficient services and no passengers were left behind.

During the Songkran festival, Sanlak stated that officials have been instructed to provide convenient and safe services to passengers, and that bus operators, particularly drivers, have been urged to carefully respect the law in terms of public safety, or risk penalties.

To prevent travelers from being overcharged during Songkran, all ticket kiosks at bus terminals were instructed to properly display ticket costs.

He also stated that travelers who have had service issues can file a complaint with the firm.
