During a police search on Thursday at a villa in the Bang Thao beach area of Thalang district, a Russian and two Indian nationals were arrested and charged with overstaying their visas.
At around 1.15 p.m., a team of immigration and tourist police showed up at the villa with an arrest warrant from Phuket Provincial Court for an Indian man who was allegedly threatening and intimidating other people.
The officers were unable to locate the Indian individual who was believed to be hiding within the building. In contrast, they encountered Georgi Shkodo, a 33-year-old Russian whose visa had expired. He was transported to the Cherng Talay police station for interrogation.
Four officers were stationed outside the villa for surveillance purposes.
An unanticipated incident occurred when a foreign man carrying a baseball bat emerged from the villa. With the bat, he attacked the police, injuring two officers. Police requested reinforcements.
A 30-person special operation team and immigration police were dispatched to the villa at approximately 5:15 p.m. The authorities detained five foreigners during a search for passport and visa checks. They were questioned at the Cherng Talay station.
Two Indian males were among the detained foreigners; they were identified as Katik, 29, and Yuvraj Saxena, 25. It was determined that both had overstayed their visas.
