The Transport Ministry has announced plans to construct two new elevated tollways at an estimated total cost of 87 billion baht. The first project involves extending the Don Muang tollway from Rangsit in Pathum Thani to Bang Pa-in in Ayutthaya.
This 22-kilometer tollway is estimated to cost 31.28 billion baht. The private sector will be invited to bid for the construction and operation, with the state reimbursing the cost at a later stage. The second project is an elevated tollway spanning 35.85 kilometers above the existing western outer ring road of Bangkok, connecting Bang Khunthian district with Bang Bua Thong district in Nonthaburi.
The construction costs for this tollway are estimated at 56.03 billion baht. The tollways are expected to be opened in 2028.
