According to the commissioner of the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB), Pol Lt-Gen Jirabhop Bhuridej, there is now enough evidence for Praween Chanklai, or “Kamnan Nok,” to be charged with death offenses for the murder of one highway police officer and the injuring of another.
As per Pol Gen Damrongsak Kittipraphat’s directive, the CIB has taken over the Region 7 Provincial Police Bureau’s investigation into the murder that occurred at Praween’s home on September 6th.
The Region 7 Provincial Police Bureau is still in charge of looking into Praween’s huge construction company as well as the actions of police officers who were at the home at the time of the killing but failed to stop the suspects or helped them flee.
According to the CIB commissioner, the evidence presented to the media yesterday (Saturday) is convincing enough to convict Praween of ordering the shooting of the two cops.
He will meet with the case’s investigators on Monday at the CIB headquarters.
According to rumors, the CIB commissioner has requested police reports on all “influential” individuals in the province of Nakhon Pathom who could be the next targets of a police sweep.
Along with the two victims, there were also roughly 25 police officers present when the shootings occurred. Six of them—who assisted in transporting the two injured guys to a hospital—will escape prosecution.
The Department of Special Investigation (DSI), the National Anti-Corruption Commission, the Public Sector Anti-Corruption Commission, and the Revenue Department are all looking into Praween’s construction business and any potential pricing collusion in construction project bids.
