Korean Air confirms orders for 27 A350-100 and 6 A350-900

Korean Air (KE), based in Seoul Incheon, has recently confirmed an order for thirty-three widebody Airbus aircraft, which includes twenty-seven A350-1000s and six A350-900s, as announced by the OEM on April 2.

Jason Yoo, the airline’s Executive Vice President and Chief Safety and Operating Officer, expressed confidence that the addition of the A350 to their fleet will enhance operational efficiency and elevate the travel experience for their passengers.

The deal, highlighted by ch-aviation in March, aims to replace aging aircraft on long-haul routes, aligning with Korean Air’s strategic fleet plans. While delivery timelines for the A350s remain undisclosed, Korean Air looks forward to integrating these new widebodies into service.

Although Korean Air currently does not operate the A350, its potential merger partner, Asiana Airlines (OZ), already operates fifteen A350-900s with additional orders in place. Korean Air’s existing widebody fleet comprises various aircraft types, including A330s, A380s, B747s, and B777s. Apart from the recent order of A350s, Korean Air also has pending orders for B787 Dreamliners, demonstrating the airline’s commitment to streamlining its fleet for operational efficiency.
