Three Airbus A340-600s with 308 seats are owned by Iran’s Mahan Air. They were employed by Virgin Atlantic before, with an average age of 20.3 years. Due to restrictions that prevent any genuine development, including aircraft replacement, Mahan Air runs them along with A300-600s, A310-300s, A340-300s, and other aircraft. It indicates that Iran’s airlines are not expanding and continue to use older and more uncommon aircraft, which is fantastic for avgeeks.
8 A340-600 routes in August
According to the most recent OAG statistics, Mahan Air’s A340-600s are planned to fly eight destinations in August out of Imam Khomeini International Airport in Tehra.
It appears fairly normal for the carrier that they would be subject to substitution. They are as follows. You should be aware that the 3,519-mile (5,663-km) route resumed in May 2023 after a few Phuket flights in early 2020.

The Tehran to Dubai route is by far Mahan Air’s busiest A340-600 route. In fact, according to OAG data for August, it is by far the best airport combination in the world to observe the rare kind.
From Frankfurt to Bogotá and Hong Kong, and from Munich to Chicago O’Hare, Newark, and Washington Dulles, it offers twice as many flights as Lufthansa’s daily A340-600 services. The kind is evidently less frequent on other Lufthansa routes.
