No charges have been brought against actress Preechaya “Ice” Pongthananikorn for acquiring cyanide

On Friday, police issued summonses to the actress and roughly 100 other people who had acquired the poison from a factory located in Bangkok’s Lat Krabang neighborhood.

According to reports, the cyanide was produced in the same batch as the suspected serial killer Sararat “Am” Rangsiwuthaporn.

The actress said in a recent interview that she had purchased a single vial of cyanide online in order to eradicate monitor lizards in the canal next to her home out of concern that they would endanger her dogs. The actress insisted that the cyanide has not yet been utilized by her.According to Surachate, there is no proof that the actress has broken any laws, according to investigators. The cyanide she had bought was a modest amount, he continued, but as was necessary by law, officials had to inquire as to why she had bought it and where from.

He also mentioned that the Department of Industrial Works is in charge of cyanide, which is categorized as a type-3 dangerous material. To import or possess the chemical, an authorization is necessary.

In order to verify that all chemical importers and manufacturers have permissions and are only using the substance for the prescribed objectives, Surachate said police will work with the department in close coordination.

The police are trying to take action against importers who resell the dangerous chemical to others without a permission, he continued.
