Phue Thais Chaikasem has a blood clot in his brain.

Chaikasem Nitisiri, the third PM candidate of the Pheu Thai Party, became unwell while campaigning in Nan and is set to return to Bangkok on Sunday for additional treatment.

Chaikasem appeared tired and had a headache when visiting Wat Phra That Chae Haeng with other party members, according to fellow PM candidate Srettha Thavisin.

“Chaikasem is currently under the supervision of medics,” Srettha stated, adding that there is nothing to worry about. Chaikasem, 74, was hospitalized for the night after a CT scan revealed he had a dried blood clot in his brain. Doctors believe the clot has been present for some time and have urged him to seek a second opinion in Bangkok. On Saturday evening, Pheu Thai organized a vote campaign at the sports complex at Rajamangala University of Technology Lanna in Nan’s Phu Phiang district.

Chaikasem, a former justice minister and attorney general, Srettha, 60, a well-known property magnate, and Paetongtarn Shinawatra, 36, the youngest daughter of former PM Thaksin Shinawatra and Pheu Thai Family head, are Pheu Thai’s three PM contenders.
