Approximately 79% of respondents in a poll conducted by the National Institute of Development Administration (NIDA) expressed their support for the government’s digital wallet scheme and their willingness to accept the one-time subsidy of 10,000 baht. The majority of these respondents stated their intention to use the money for purchasing goods and services. Additionally, around 60% of those surveyed believed that if the scheme were to be canceled, it would have a negative impact on the popularity of the ruling Pheu Thai party.

The NIDA poll also revealed concerns among respondents regarding the potential impact of the scheme on prices and inflation. About 25.27% expressed significant concern, while 30.92% expressed moderate concern that the scheme could lead to price increases without effectively stimulating the economy, as suggested by a group of 99 academics including former economics deans and central bank governors. On the other hand, 28.47% of respondents stated that they were not concerned at all.
