President Biden falls on stage

At the US Air Force Academy’s graduation ceremony in Colorado, Vice President Joe Biden stumbled and fell while distributing diplomas.

The nation’s oldest serving president, Joe Biden, 80, was helped back to his feet and didn’t seem wounded.

To shake hands with each of the 921 graduating cadets, the president had been on his feet for approximately an hour and a half.

He’s well, the White House communications director earlier said.

Ben LaBolt posted on Twitter following Thursday’s accident that “there was a sandbag on stage while he was shaking hands.”

As he returned to the White House that evening, the president grinned and told reporters, “I got sandbagged.”

Biden reportedly fell over a black sandbag while advancing onto the stage, according to a prior White House press pool story.

Video of the incident appears to show Mr. Biden pointing at one of the two sandbags that were being used to support his teleprompter as he was being lifted up by an Air Force official and two members of his Secret Service detail.

Shortly after the mishap, the ceremony finished, and he was spotted jogging back to his motorcade after making it to his seat on his own.

When the president got back to his plane, the pool reporter claimed, he declined to accept any questions.

Mr. Biden was “totally fine,” according to White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre, and had boarded the aircraft with “a big smile.”

Some have said that Mr. Biden is too elderly to run for president a second time.

A majority of US voters, according to recent polls, are worried about his elderly age. If he wins, he would be 82 when he began a second term.

These worries might be raised further by this fall in addition to earlier slips on his bicycle and while ascending the Air Force One stairs.

The incident was addressed by former president Donald Trump, the Republican front-runner to take on Mr. Biden in the 2024 presidential race, who said “the whole thing is crazy” while attending a campaign event in Iowa.

Mr. Trump, 76, who often makes fun of Mr. Biden’s age, replied, “I hope he wasn’t hurt.” That is not motivating.

“You need to exercise caution because you don’t want that,” was the advice. Even if you have to tip toe down the ramp,” Mr. Trump said, seemingly alluding to his own cautious exit from a platform that garnered attention in 2020.

At the time, he dismissed any concerns about his health raised by the media by claiming that the ramp at the US Military Academy in West Point, New York, was slippery.

During a campaign stop in New Hampshire, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, another Republican contender for the 2024 candidacy, responded to the incident by saying, “We hope and wish Joe Biden a swift recovery from any injuries he may have sustained.”However, we also desire for the United States of America to quickly recuperate from the wounds that Joe Biden’s actions have caused.

In February, Mr. Biden underwent his most recent physical assessment.

During that period, White House physician Dr. Kevin O’Connor stated: “The President remains fit for duty, and fully executes all of his responsibilities without any exemptions or accommodations.”

According to Dr. O’Connor, Mr. Biden has a “stiffened gait” when he walks, which is primarily brought on by wear and tear on his spine and nerve damage in his feet, but otherwise his condition hasn’t changed since a November 2021 medical.

The commander in chief has fallen flat in front of the cameras before, but Joe Biden is far from the first.

In contrast to President Gerald Ford, who fell down the stairs of Air Force One in 1975, President Barack Obama tripped while ascending stairs at an event in 2012.
